No More Calls—Let Google AI Do It for You
1. New Feature: AI Makes Calls for You
Google launched a new feature called “Ask for Me” that lets its AI assistant call local businesses to ask about service pricing, availability, or to schedule appointments. Instead of making the call, users can simply search and let AI handle the interaction.
2. How the AI Works
- When users search for services like grooming, repairs, or cleaning, a prompt appears to allow AI to check details for them.
- The AI will ask the user for specific inputs—like pet type, preferred time, and how to send the response (text or email).
- Then the AI makes the phone call, introduces itself as Google’s assistant, and asks the questions.
- The collected information is sent back to the user.
3. Business Control
Businesses can disable the feature to receive calls from Google AI through the settings in their Google Business Profile. This allows them to control incoming calls, avoid unwanted calls, and maintain traditional communication methods like email or text messages.
Although this feature can be turned off, Google still encourages businesses to take advantage of AI to save time and improve customer service efficiency.
4. Who Can Use It
- This feature is available in the U.S.
- Subscribers to premium plans such as AI Pro or AI Ultra have more usage access.
- It was initially tested in early 2025 with services like nail salons, pet grooming, and auto care.
5. Advanced AI Capabilities
- The feature uses the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, which enhances logic, math, and code interpretation.
- A new Deep Search option is also being developed, enabling the AI to ask layered follow-up questions and reason through complex queries.
