1.The Comeback of High-Risk Trader James Wynn

James Wynn, a crypto trader known for extreme leverage and massive losses, made a surprising comeback — earning over half a million USD in a single day, his highest since May 25, 2023.

After suffering a string of losses, including a $100 million loss on Hyperliquid reported in June, Wynn didn’t back down. On July 10, he deposited 27,522 USDC and received a $3,960.84 referral bonus, then opened a risky 40x short position on Bitcoin — which was fully liquidated in under 12 hours, resulting in a $27,921.63 loss.

Following that loss, Wynn deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account.

"James Wynn has deactivated his X account! What happened? Did he completely fail? All his Hyperliquid wallets and balances are only $10,176," Lookonchain posted

With only $10,176 remaining across his wallets and Hyperliquid balance. But on July 15, he reappeared, claiming another $6,792.53 referral reward, and placed a 10x leveraged long on PEPE.

2. Volatile Trades — From Losses To Big Wins

Wynn then deposited an additional 468,000 USDC into Hyperliquid and made another bold move by opening a 40x long on Bitcoin. Although he faced partial liquidation, he reversed strategy, going short on BTC and HYPE, which earned him $473,900 in profits, according to Lookonchain.

Data from Hyperdash shows he made $105,948 and $345,456 on July 18 and 19, respectively, from Bitcoin short positions.

3. Wynn’s PEPE Trade Nets Over $521K — His Best Since 2023

On July 20, Wynn deposited another 536,573 USDC and opened two new leveraged positions:

 - 25x long on ETH, which earned $33,386

 - 10x long on PEPE, which earned a staggering $521,313.86

This PEPE trade is his single most profitable trade since his $18 million gain in May 2023.

At the time of writing, Wynn still has two open leveraged positions:

 - 10x long on DOGE, with unrealized profit of $374,095

 - 10x long on PEPE, with unrealized profit of $30,759

4. Wynn's Current Performance — Still A Rough Road

Since his return on July 15, Wynn has completed 15 trades, of which:

 - 7 were profitable

 - 8 resulted in net losses

 - His win rate stands at just 36.6%

While the recent wins are not enough to offset previous losses, they signal a potential recovery path for the embattled trader.

5. The White Whale vs. James Wynn — Two Very Different Outcomes

While Wynn struggles to bounce back, Lookonchain spotlighted another trader — “The White Whale”, who earned nearly $30 million in just 7 days using 4 wallets to long ETH and SOL on Hyperliquid.

6. Leverage Trading — High Rewards, Higher Risks

The contrast between James Wynn and The White Whale illustrates the extreme high-risk, high-reward nature of leveraged trading, where fortunes can be made or wiped out in hours.
