A rapidly growing RWA market

The tokenized real-world asset (RWA) market has grown to around $13.4 billion, with forecasts pointing to even faster growth as traditional financial institutions bring more of their products on-chain. RWAs include tokenized money market funds, short-term bonds, gold, and other tangible-value assets.

Details of the GSR–DigiFT partnership

GSR, a crypto market maker with over a decade of experience, will provide systematic bid-ask pricing for these tokenized products. DigiFT, a licensed exchange in Singapore and compliant in Hong Kong, will operate the OTC platform, handle settlements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Institutional clients can place orders via DigiFT’s OTC desk during Asian market hours and over the weekend. Tradable assets include Invesco’s US Senior Loan Strategy (iSNR), UBS’s USD Money Market Investment Fund (uMINT), and Wellington’s Ultra Short Treasury On-Chain Fund (ULTRA).

Advantages of on-chain OTC trading

All transactions are settled directly on blockchain using smart contracts to transfer tokens and stablecoins. This removes counterparty risk, enhances transparency, and significantly speeds up settlement compared to traditional finance.

The OTC model also enables large block trades without causing major price swings in public markets—something especially valuable for institutions and funds that require discretion and stability.

Impact on DeFi and investors

This collaboration could spark an active secondary market for RWAs, allowing DeFi protocols to integrate real-world assets into their products. It may also give individual investors access to institutional-grade assets, expanding investment opportunities and improving portfolio diversification.
